Quick Start
Create your first recording in Mont in under 5 minutes. Learn the core workflow: create a project, edit slides, record with camera, and export.
This guide walks you through creating your first recording in Mont. In about 5 minutes, you'll have a working video with slides and camera.
Create a Project
From the dashboard, click New Project. Mont creates a project with your first slide already set up.
The editor opens with a recording composition ready to go:
- The slides view appears in the center
- A camera preview appears in the bottom-right corner
- The timeline sits at the bottom
The camera is enabled by default. If you want to record slides only (no camera), click the camera toggle in the control panel at the top center of the screen to disable it.
Edit Your Slides
Your first slide has placeholder text for a title and subtitle. Click on each to edit:
- Click the title placeholder and type your presentation title
- Click the subtitle and add a brief description
To add more slides, click the + button in the slides panel. Create two more slides:
- A second slide for your main content
- A third slide for your conclusion
You now have three slides ready to present.
Add Your First Slide to the Timeline
Before recording, drag your first slide from the slides panel onto the timeline. This places a slide span at the start of your video.
Move the playhead to the end of this slide span. You can drag it or press the Go to End button in the playback controls.
Record Your Presentation
Now for the main event. Click the red Record button to start recording.
As you record:
- Speak your introduction while on the first slide
- Switch to your second slide using the slides panel or keyboard
- Continue presenting through your content
- Switch to your final slide for the conclusion
- Click the Record button again to stop
During recording, Mont automatically:
- Extends the camera span as you speak
- Creates slide spans each time you switch slides
- Keeps everything synchronized on the timeline
When you stop, your timeline shows:
- Three slide spans (one for each slide)
- One camera span covering the slides you presented with camera
Export Your Video
Click the Export button in the top-right corner of the header.
A file picker dialog appears. Choose where to save your video and click Export.
Note: If you use multiple monitors, the file picker may appear on a different screen. Check your other displays if you don't see it.
Mont renders your video in the browser. When complete, your finished video is saved to the location you selected.
