How to create and edit slides (segments) in Mont

In Mont, segments are individual visual states in your project—similar to slides in a presentation. Each segment can have different objects, positions, and styles.

Creating segments

From the segment bar

The segment bar below the scene shows thumbnails of all your segments.

  1. Click the + button at the end of the segment bar
  2. A new segment is created, copying the previous segment's content
  3. Modify objects in the new segment as needed

By duplicating

  1. Select an existing segment
  2. Press Shift+D to duplicate it
  3. Edit the duplicate independently

Editing segment content

Each segment contains scene objects—text, images, shapes, and videos. To edit a segment:

  1. Click the segment in the segment bar to make it active
  2. The scene shows that segment's content
  3. Add, modify, or remove objects

Adding objects

  • Text: Click the text tool and click in the scene
  • Images: Drag and drop image files, or use the upload button
  • Shapes: Select shape tools from the toolbar

Modifying objects

  1. Click an object to select it
  2. Drag to reposition
  3. Use handles to resize
  4. Use the properties panel for precise adjustments:
    • Position (X, Y)
    • Size (width, height)
    • Rotation
    • Opacity
    • Border and shadow effects

Deleting objects

Select an object and press Delete or Backspace.

Segment properties

Each segment has its own visual state for objects. The same object can appear differently in different segments:

  • Different position
  • Different size
  • Different opacity
  • Visible in some segments, hidden in others

This allows you to create animations by changing object properties between segments and using transitions.

Object persistence across segments

When you add an object, it exists in the current segment. To have the same object appear in multiple segments:

  1. Copy the object (Ctrl+C)
  2. Navigate to another segment
  3. Paste (Ctrl+V)

Objects pasted across segments can have different properties (position, size) in each segment while maintaining their identity for smooth transitions.

Tips

  • Plan your segments: Sketch out your content flow before creating
  • Use duplicates: Start new segments by duplicating existing ones to maintain consistency
  • Leverage transitions: Different object positions between segments create smooth animations with Magic Match transition
