How to set up and configure camera recording in Mont

Camera recording captures video from your webcam—ideal for talking-head videos, introductions, and personal touches in your content.

Starting a camera recording

  1. Click the Camera button in the recording controls, or press C
  2. Grant camera permission if prompted by your browser
  3. You'll see a preview of your camera feed
  4. Press Shift+R or click the record button to start recording

Camera selection

If you have multiple cameras connected (built-in webcam, external USB camera, etc.), you can choose which one to use:

  1. Click the settings icon next to the camera button
  2. Select your preferred camera from the dropdown
  3. The preview updates to show the selected camera

Camera flip

The Flip option mirrors your camera horizontally. This is useful when:

  • Reading text on screen (so it appears correctly to viewers)
  • Matching the mirrored view you see of yourself

Enable flip in the camera settings dropdown.

Audio with camera

By default, camera recordings include audio from your microphone. To change the microphone or disable audio:

  1. Click the microphone icon to toggle audio on/off
  2. Click the settings icon to select a different microphone

The audio level meter shows your microphone input in real-time.

Recording tips

Lighting: Face a light source (window or lamp) for the best image quality. Avoid backlighting.

Framing: Position yourself in the center of the frame with some headroom above.

Background: A clean, uncluttered background looks more professional.

Eye contact: Look at your camera lens, not the screen, when addressing viewers directly.

Stopping the recording

Press Space or C to stop recording. Your camera footage appears as a clip on the timeline.
